About us
The Downtown Lodge is a special kind of hostel, which differs clearly from hotels.
The Downtown Lodge (DTL) is a village of 5 lodges. Three completely equiped lodges with a total of 185 beds that we rent as grouphouses. In the two other lodges we have a total of 92 beds for our individual guests and backpackers. Most rooms are double, 4-bed or 6-bed rooms furnished with bank- or normal beds. The breakfast buffet and bedlinen are included in our prices.
Unique in DTL is the internation experience. Guests share the immenities together, so we can keep the prices as low as possible.
Opening hours reception
Our reception is open every day from 7.30am to 12.00am and 4.30pm to 9.30pm.
Location and getting there
Grindelwald is located in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. You can travel to Grindelwald easily by train or car.
By car: Via Bern or Lucerne on the highway no. 8 to Interlaken. Take the exit Wilderswil and follow the road up to Grindelwald. Plan your trip with a route planner right here .
By train: half or hourly long-distance connections to Interlaken East. From there another 35 minute trainride and you will arrive already in Grindelwald. Here you can find the online timetable of Swiss Trains.
DTL is in the middle of Grindelwald and you reach us in a 5 minute walk from the train station.
